Our range of Electrical & Electronic Recycling (e waste recycling) services share core principals that prioritise & maximise re-use, strive to reduce waste and to ensure all customer data is found and securely destroyed.

A range of Public sector organisations use our WEEE Recycling, Computer recycling, E waste recycling and data destruction services and includes Emergency Services, Local Authorities, Health Trusts, Universities and schools. Commercial customers include Financial, Defence, Aerospace, Automotive and Manufacturing sectors. We provide specialist services to support IT Service & Maintenance Providers and other Waste Management organisations.

Seek-it WEEE recycling centerWe operate from a modern custom designed 10,000 sq ft WEEE ATF (Authorised Treatment Facility) located in Portsmouth. We hold a full waste management licence which permits us to accept most types of electronic and electrical equipment (EEE) along with components, batteries, lamps and e-waste from the manufacture and repair sectors. Seek-it is a fully Approved Authorised Treatment Facility (AATF) which is required in order to issue Re-use & Recycling evidence under the WEEE Regulations.

Our extensive IT system handled customer services such as ordering, quotes, waste reporting and invoicing. This ensures that we are not top heavy in administrative duties and allows us to focus extra attention in providing our customers an efficient and professional service.

Brief History
crt recyclingOur initial aim was to evolve safe and eco friendly methods to recycle ‘End of Life’ electronic/electrical equipment (WEEE). In parallel, we developed a commercial IT collection/processing arm with a firm emphasis on tight security.

In 2004 Seek-it won the Small Business Category at the Hampshire Sustainable Business Awards. Our IT system also gained a thematic award for use of Innovation & Technology within the waste sector.

Later that year our management system gained ISO 9000 certification and our environmental processes for handling waste were awarded ISO 14001 accreditation.

In February 2005 we opened our first dedicated facility to treat WEEE in Hampshire. Our waste management licence was amongst the first ATF specific to be approved by the Environment Agency to carry out WEEE recycling in the UK.

In addition to commercial operations, we were involved in numerous WEEE recycling research projects during 2005 to early 2007 which included:

  • Design & construction of a pilot WEEE Treatment Facility aimed at maximum material recovery.
  • Systems and processes to identify and recycle common plastic types used in the construction of EEE (Electronic & Electrical Equipment).
  • Development of a process to separate brominated flame retardants from WEEE polymers
  • Development of resources and physical practices to aid the recognition, safe removal and storage of hazardous materials used in the manufacture of EEE
  • Segregation, treatment and recording of WEEE from HWRC (Local Amenity Site)
  • Developing skill sets required for safe, manual demanufacture of WEEE

The UK WEEE regulations came into force in July 2007, 3 years later than intended.
