Our experience and understanding of WEEE related issues was recognised as Seek-it was chosen from of over 30 companies as one of 6 partners to participate in a major WEEE demanufacturing project carried out in Hampshire.

In 2003 the Hampshire Natural Resources Trust received funding in excess of £500,000 to facilitate research into how the WEEE Directive could be implemented in practice.

The project was structured in two phases - a Study Phase and a Pilot Phase. Seek-IT were selected as a partner for the Study Phase and successfully completed our tasks on schedule and within budget.

The project is now moving into the Pilot Phase. One objective of this phase is to showcase manual dismantling of small WEEE items, and develop a long term WEEE business opportunity.

Our main role in the pilot stage is to deliver a custom designed state of art processing facility (8000 sqf) and supply trained personal to operate all aspects of the project. Substantial funding will enable different techniques to be explored and a mature operation to be demonstrated before producer and retailer financial responsibility commences in August 2005.

Seek-it was presented with two Hampshire and Isle of Wight Sustainable Business Awards in a ceremony held on June 10th in the Great Hall, Winchester. It was totally unexpected for us to receive one award, let alone two.




Our highly developed integrated software and on-line systems were recognised with a thematic award for Environmental Innovation & Technology.

Our overall ethos, operating process and procedures attracted the main award in the Small Business category.

We now have automatic qualification for the SEEDA regional awards, held later in the year.
